Obama? More than ten. Where were you then? Why weren't you calling out her ungraciousness? (Oh and Obama congratulated her during the day and then let her have her victory).
after a tough debate. She congratulated him EVERY time.
tr'd for two false statements.
Look, watch the video and it's pretty obvious. He paused. He wiped off his shoulders and the bottom of his shoes.
The man is very thin-skinned, and immature. Let's hope he can grow up in time for Denver, November. A young petulant candidate will not look pretty attacking a 72-year-old war hero.
Everyone else has laughed off this supposed controversy. We dealt with this prior to the Pennsylvania primary. Here is a video showing he used two fingers and scratched his face. This is silly. And any person who is not trying to cause controversy to promote a candidate recognizes that. The only reason you keep bringing it up is in an effort to goad people to overreact and drive away serious Clinton supporters from Obama.
You have a choice: you can engage in a serious discussion or you can try to stir up controversy. If you choose the latter, I assure that when Obama becomes the nominee you will be marginalized. There have been unfair negative attacks against Clinton, mostly by the media, but also by Obama supporters. And due to that many Obama supporters are making a serious effort to reach out to Clinton supporters. Your effort to create false controversies is an obvious attempt to deter that. I won't let you without pointing out the patheticness of your charge. Honestly whose acting like a child: Obama or you?
But believe your lyin eyes.
LATimes called it a "one-fingered salute!"
Unity!
I can tell you that the credibility of the L.A. times in this city has been in serious question for a couple of years now. But let's say that's a credible source, can you not see that other finger? Is it possible that people are cheering about what he said and not his gesture? At some point you have stop manufacturing controversies and deal with issues. This is life-and-death. People will die from the wars that McCain wants to fight and the only serious opponent that he is going to have is Barack Obama. So, you can scour the internet for false rumors or you can join our effort to end this massive failure of the Bush administration. It's up to you.
is indeed life-and-death. I am very worried about how Obama acts under pressure.
it 'proves' he had two fingers (you do see two fingers there) you also see the whole hall react because they SAW one finger.
How slick.
I think that Obama has remembered the tricks he probably learned in high school.. and the rhetorical techniques to look 'cool' to his youngish preferred audience.
But.... is it Presidential?
NO!
the words he used? I know I liked that speech. I liked how he ridiculed the media for focusing on the inane, while dismissing the important issues. People have cheered at his events without any gestures. Possibly people, are listening to him and agreeing with him? Something like 17 million people.
opinions are not false statements. This is the kind of high handed treatment I've come to expect from his supporters, and why anyone thought he'd sent any of you to charm school to learn how to be less offensive I have no idea. The rumor is clearly false. Please tr me whenever you have a differing opinion. Why not, it's suits you're style, bully bully.
There is video evidence showing two fingers. We dealt with this controversy a long time ago and only people who are still bringing it up are those who have expressed a profound desire to engage in intellectual dishonesty.
And she did not congratulate Obama after EVERY victory. She didn't after Wisconsin. She didn't do so after the Potomac primaries. She didn't after Mississippi. Neither she nor Bill Clinton congratulated Obama after SC, even though both of them had primetime speeches. She says that she called him and I'll believe her on that. But she did not congratulate him publicly.
As Walter Monyihan (a fierce advocate for Clinton's election as a Senator) said, we can be entitled to our own opinions, but not our own facts. I can give you links and other such evidence to prove you're being disengenious, but I don't think you're an honest broker, so I don't want to go to the effort.
When it was not in the speeches it was in the tons of interviews she had in the following 18-34 hours. When she had taped her interviews for the evening news casts the day after the West Virginia, Obama demanded that the networks all produce live feed coverage of his big rally in Michigan because he was going to have a big important surprise.
They did it and they bumped all of the post West Virginia interviews and coverage of the election to show Obama and Edwards making their speeches. Edwards, who had just spent three days in interviews talking about not making an endorsement and why it was so important for him not to do it. They trumped any time Hillary chose to mention Obama in a bunch of interviews instead of in a speech or personally on the phone.
If Obama is a lead pipe cinch and has for the last week or more been the 'presumptuous' nominee and Hillary is dead...why couldn't he show us that unity we hear so much about and the reaching across the divides and the welcoming Hillary supporters to help him win the general.
In politics people are always scurrying for advantage and we all know it ain't beanbag. But Obama is promising that he is different, has a different way of doing business and he also says he has won and is running against McCain and Clinton isn't in his view any more, but her voters had better be or else. And did I mention that he had won and it was over? What would it have hurt, then for the huge turnout in West Virginia, all of thos voters and his opponent who did so well to have a moment of coverage for the sake of the party and the general?
Why didn't we see the Edwards endorsement the next day or week or month? If he is the winner, how would it have hurt or helped if he had shiwn he was not a useless slogan and empty suit when it came to his lofty speeches. If he valued what he says he values it was a great opportunity to give folks a tiny example of those values in action. Just a tiny piece of evidence of his values...and his new politics...
actually you're right.
but that was then and this is now - if its over - as you all say - wouldnt it be prudent to stop and try and bring others into the fold?
the polls closed. It seems that people are just upset that he did not do it in primetime with a big speech. That seems to be the big point of contention and I don't see what the big concern is that he did not highlight he win in primetime.
