We had some real donnybrooks last Spring (2007) when georgep was one of the few forceful Clinton supporters on this site. This was mostly below the radar because Edwards supporters dominated the discussion here.
Also, Seymour Glass/holden caulfield/dem dem (to me, though I know he rubbed a lot of people the wrong way). Until that time, I had never had a real conversation with someone who had Tourette's syndrome. :)
I had a man-crush on Holden/Seymour aka TimLHowe, for all his polemic nonsense. What a guy! And, like me, somewhere to the left of Emiliano Zapata, or so he claimed. I kept nagging him about joining the IWW but he never did. Anyone who immortalises Salinger can't be all bad but, man, what a handful... I loved the Obama/Malcolm X diary series best, I think.
He still owes me a case of Coors Classic and an AFL-CIO T-shirt, by the way. Sheesh. So much for betting via MyDD, I've been stiffed twice.
